As we swiftly approach our first official Matariki holiday as a nation, the YES team have taken some time to reflect upon the year to date and what a year it has been so far!

It's amazing what can be accomplished in just six months. Earlier in the year, we attended the Pasifika Navigators of Tomorrow event at Forsyth Barr Stadium, which was an absolute blast.

We've supported a bunch of rangatahi to take up opportunities with our awesome YES employers and onboarded a slew of new youth-friendly employers, including Te Nukuroa o Matamata, HighlandersReading Cinemas Dunedin, Port Nelson and Select Recruitment.

Our YES Location Lead, Joey, shared the YES platform with job seekers at the Connected Hiring Day in sunny Nelson.

We had fun filming with one of our fantastic long-term employers Southern Youth Development (formerly Malcam Trust), who has been committed to the YES kaupapa for ages; you can check out their flash new video on their profile. Jay even jumped off the Forsyth Barr Stadium rafters to help them raise funds for the many incredible programmes they run for the youth of Otago.

Our YES Location Lead, Anne from Connected, went to the VR Job Expo in Greymouth, where job seekers had the opportunity to virtually explore a number of different industries using VR technology.

The Highlanders gave several rangatahi the opportunity to experience Gameday Internships at Forsyth Barr Stadium throughout the season.

We attended the Otago Boys High School careers expo and helped their Tauira to explore the opportunities that Dunedin's youth-friendly employers are offering.

And just last week went to the Otago Museum, where we did a presentation for some of the Dunedin-based Ākonga from Te Kura; we spoke about their interests and helped them to identify YES employers/industries that they would like to connect with.

And lastly if you haven't already heard....Youth Employment Success is heading across the ditch to the Darling Downs, South West region in beautiful Queensland,  we can't wait! You can read the full ODT article here.
