The first half of 2022 has been busy for the team at YES. Paul, Domi & Jay with support from our fabulous design/marketing and web teams hosted the first event in our Operation Find My Job - Virtual Job Fair series, which was an absolute hit thanks to our amazing employers from Talley's Group, Roots Bar & Café, WSP, Contact, Firebrand, Community Care Trust, Mana Rangatahi, Aotea Electric, Aotea Security and Action Engineering.

Our talented mission explorer Zoe Liddell lead the event look and feel for Operation Find My Job with a for youth by youth approach, whilst Thomas from Rā Design and Jay collaborated on the cultural design elements. This was such a fun experience that inspired out team, so much so that we are also now undertaking with our new social media strategy to be rolled out in the second half of 2022.

Joining the TikTok universe has been another fun adventure we've been on this year. The Youth Employment Success account was created in February to kick off Operation Find My Job guest speaker intros and since then the account has amassed over 14,500 video views! We are excited to grow our audience on this platform sharing YES employer showcase videos, useful employment insights, tips and tricks as well as upcoming events. If you are on TikTok, make sure you follow us @youthemploymentsuccess

Breakfast was enjoyed with the team from Business South and WorkForce Central Dunedin as we learned about the future employment opportunities that exist for rangatahi in Ōtepoti as a part of the new Dunedin Hospital development. This is super exciting for those interested in heading into the trades. Watch this space!

Sharing and growing our awesome job board with rangatahi and employers alike has been a goal we've been focusing on this year. This also lead us to the expansion of our job board regions so as to include the rest of Aotearoa. This is an awesome resource that is completely free to use, so if you or someone you know is looking to recruit and has youth-friendly positions for rangatahi aged 16-24  make sure you send them our way. Visit our job board here.

We have attended a couple of fantastic events with our friends at Mana Rangatahi who this year launched the Mana Rangatahi Kete - youth pathways accelerator app, and introduced us to their programme partner Awhi App. This app provides a daily reflection and peer support tool that helps the rangatahi on their programme monitor daily wellbeing levels. Check out Mana Rangatahi here.

As founding signatories to the Ōtepoti Youth Vision we were excited to learn of the opportunity to become a part of the Ōtepoti Youth Vision Partnership Group alongside rangatahi and youth first organisations. The goals of the ŌYV are to foster an environment where rangatahi are empowered/supported in:

- Tino Rangatahitanga
  Self-determination and self-empowerment
- Manaakitanga
  Care, support and acceptance
- Collaboration
- Respect

We look forward to working with the partnership group to achieve these goals!

More recently we were lucky enough to be invited to the Ōtepoti Youth Space a pop-up youth space on George street that was open for two weeks starting youth week, Steph & Jay presented our Start Your Employment Journey with YES workshop, and admired the great space that the youth space team had set up. This was a fantastic initiative and one that we hope can become a permanent fixture in the city of Ōtepoti.
