The Firebrand team are working in partnership with Southern District Health Board to encourage the final 20% of the Southland and Otago Regions to receive their Covid-19 vaccinations. SDHB have developed the 'Protect What We Love' movement to communicate that the vaccine isn't only to protect yourself but also to protect those who cannot be vaccinated.

Hopefully, you have heard about the nationwide 'Super Shot Saturday' on the 16th of October, where vaccination clinics all over the country will be open all day and into the evening. In addition, SDHB is holding a Super Shot Saturday pop up vaccination clinic in the Dunedin Octagon. This will be an ultra-accessible vaccination site and an educational resource with on-site medical professionals to answer questions, calm nerves, and unpack concerns surrounding the Covid-19 vaccine and all that it brings. There will be live entertainment, free ice cream vouchers, and refreshments available between 10 am - 3 pm to mark the occasion. Orbus has even hopped on board and is running free bus rides throughout Dunedin to help you get to a vaccination centre. Other Dunedin based locations include Meridian Mall Mass Vax Centre and Te Kāika's Big Blue Pop Up Vax Centre.

As an Ōtepoti business, we want to work with our community to motivate people to get vaccinated. We encourage you to spread the word and help support the Protect What We ❤ movement. Use these downloadable resources and share them with your staff, customers or local business community. When sharing or posting content related to this movement or vaccinations in general, make sure you include #vaxsouth #otago #protectsouthern to help increase digital traction.

The Ministry of Health has recognised that there are some barriers when it comes to receiving the vaccine; here is a toolkit for businesses and workplaces to encourage your staff and community to get vaccinated.

The more people we have fully vaccinated, the more protection we have against COVID-19 and this gives us more freedom - freedom of concerns, for summer, of lockdowns and pressures and barriers to access and taking action.
