Firebrand is proud to support the Otago Community Hospice and the important work that they do in our community. 2020 has been tough on us all, and funding is hard to come by, so let's support them this July by getting your workmates together and getting your legs out, go on brave the chill for this fantastic cause and give what you can.
A Word From The Otago Community Hospice
Over the last three months, Otago Community Hospice has had its fundraising cut to a trickle while the community has tackled the Covid crisis. With our new financial year ahead, and hopefully our community in recovery mode, the Hospice is gently reaching out for your support.
This year's fundraising target is once again $2.5 million. Making a donation is one way of supporting us. But in this post-COVID environment we know that might not be easily done. There are so many other ways to support Hospice. We rely on a volunteer army of 350 and we are always recruiting for new volunteers. We make a third of our target each year by selling second-hand goods through our shop network, so we are always on the lookout for donated goods. Our supporters hosting fundraising events is also another way to support Hospice.
However you choose to support us, please know that 80% of the fundraising dollar goes directly to patient care - either in the community via our care coordinators, or in the Inpatient Unit or via our palliative specialists support of aged care facilities and primary health care providers. The other 20% goes to the support crew who keep the Hospice running efficiently. So everything we do goes towards providing the quality free palliative service to those who need support when they are facing the end of their lives.
Every contribution you make - be it volunteer time, donated goods or money - helps us keep our services free of charge to patients in Otago.
