Karen has been creating handmade soap and balms for over 20 years and has always been interested in aromatherapy and natural ingredients. Dear Heart is a beautifully formulated vegan skincare range that delivers the feel-good factor of intoxicating aromas coupled with premium oils and butters for an all-round luxurious sensory experience (we can vouch for that having tested them).

With her new brand, packaging and photography to tie the whole experience together, Karen has taken what was once a DIY side hustle to a beautiful bespoke range of products in luxury packaging, ready to take on the eCommerce world - just in time for Christmas *hint hint... ?

The Brand

Karen wanted the brand to look natural but glamorous. It needed to look high end whilst also remaining approachable. Given the name 'Dear Heart' as well, it was important the logo made sense and connected back to the name. The result is a circular icon made up of connecting hearts with the acronym letters 'D' and 'H' contained within it. The icon and letters can be used singularly or with the full wording 'Dear Heart' supporting it. The typography is timeless, classic and simple with a rose gold hero colour.

The Packaging

Similar to the logo, it was important that the packaging was environmentally friendly and natural, but with a touch of luxury for a bit of something special. We worked with two amazing print partners to achieve this. Firstly Dunedin Print for the foiled soapboxes and the business cards, and then for the adhesive labels, the incredible team at Hally labels. The labels were printed in a beautiful textured Clarence stock for a luxurious feel and easy application, and the lip balm and body balm tubs had a rose gold foil block for the logo and outer border for an extra special touch.

The Photography

The product photography was a bit of fun with rose petals, leaves, sticks, clay and all sorts to play with. Needless to say, Taryn's house was a bomb site while creating them, but it was well worth it in the end. Karen provided every tiny detail for the photo props needed for an extra special result to start populating the website.

The Website

Alongside the brand, packaging and photography to tie the whole experience together, our developer Louis created a minimalist Shopify website to sell the bespoke range of products just in time for Christmas. You can also find the complete list of where Dear Heart is sold locally around Dunedin on the Stockists page: https://dearheart.co.nz/pages/stockists

It was an absolute pleasure working with Karen on this dream project. ?☁?
