Firebrand worked closely with the working group initially to workshop and co-create a brand for their reading program including the naming logo, website and collateral. The objective was to appeal to children of South Dunedin aged 3 to 7 years and their whānau to inspire a love of reading. We engaged Thomas from Rā Designs to develop a cultural graphic representing the areas of Ōtepoti, specifically around the South Dunedin area. The patterns tell the story of the lands, animals, nature, whānau and those who came before us.

It is hoped families will be encouraged to share stories, talk to their children about the books, and share the books around the South Dunedin community. Sharing a book is a lovely way of connecting through story, with the illustrations and rich vocabulary found in great picture books inspiring creativity and language. Often one story leads to another and creates storytelling moments that can be treasured.
