Our first talk was from members of our very own team, our front end-developers Alex and Louis. Talking all things consumer and user experience. Both emphasized the importance of having relevant, tidy and accurate information throughout your site as your online store is now your shop window. People’s ideas and expectations are formed by looking at your website, and it is important to give users an experience that they will remember.

Our second speaker was Caro McCaw from the Otago Polytechnic, shared her insights about an art project that she conducted called sounding. Sounding was an initiative that began to explain the echolocation distribution in our oceans. The project was established to raise awareness and raise money for further research into how noises from shipping, underwater drilling and sonic blasting effect the animals.

The last speaker of the night was Daryn Soper from Shopify itself, Daryn is the Lead Front-End Developer based in Wanaka. He introduced all the new and exciting features that are set to hit Shopify Partners within the next year. Including, the all-new POS - making commerce experiences better, multi-currency checkouts, multi-location inventory and allowing a dynamic checkout to speed up the check-out process to allow payments through Paypal, Google Play or Apple Pay.

We really enjoyed hearing from all of our speakers and can’t wait for the next one! Keep your eyes out for the announcement of our next one at the end of the year with an entirely new theme!
