I was a participant in Startup Weekend a few years ago with a team from Firebrand. This year, I decided to come along as an observer during the final pitches at the end of the weekend.
There were definitely some exciting ideas from the teams this year - some of the highlights from me:
- Team Timbr - the idea of building a 'Tinder' style app but for selling your house definitely caught my attention as I am currently on the hunt for a first home.
- Team Less - a cheap, eco-friendly dissolvable tablet that can be used for effective cleaning. These guys took at first place!
- And also, providing some quick IT support with the main presentation on the fly! Always happy to help!
The next Startup Weekend is in Queenstown in October. As a Startup Weekend alumni, I have learnt so much through these events and would definitely recommend checking it out if you haven't already!
