This year has been a whirlwind, to say the least, there have been highs and let's be honest, there were definitely a few more lows than many of us were prepared for ( 2020??‍♀️ am I right?!).

However, at Firebrand we believe in learning from the lows and genuinely celebrating the highs and that is exactly what we did when we were selected as finalists for the Otago Business Awards.

Our Youth Employment Success platform was selected in the innovation category for their awesome adaption to lockdown, unable to host their usual open sessions they facilitated the engagement of Youth and Employers via inspiring Zoom sessions as well as creating a free online, nationwide job board for employers to advertise jobs that are specifically targeted at our young people.

Firebrand was also proud to be recognised as a finalist in the category for business integrity, It was awesome to be acknowledged for something that as a business and team is so very important to us, doing the right thing even when it's tough.

"Integrity is doing the right thing, even when no one is watching".
~ C.S Lewis

It was a great night, the whole team dusted off their glad rags and descended on the town hall, Dunedin Venues absolutely outdid themselves with a beautiful meal and fantastic service, there was singing and dancing which showcased some of Dunedin's talented young people and of course, we commended all of the fantastic businesses that were nominated.

The morning after celebrating at the Business Awards, we celebrated the category finalists and overall winners of the Otago Hall of Fame run by MediaWorks Otago. Both Firebrand and Youth Employment success were category sponsors for The Otago Educator of the Year and Otago Youth Local Hero of the Year. We were pleased to be apart of such a great initiative for Otago.
