It all started with a road trip of New Zealand in January 2017. It was the best trip we ever took.
At the time my fiancé Lily was looking for a postdoctoral fellowship abroad (as it is customary to do so after a PhD), we fell in love so much with New Zealand that we were only left with one option: find a job there and move.
Three months later Lily found a job at the University of Otago, in July I found my role here at Firebrand and now we are here, in Dunedin. Easy!
We didn’t know Dunedin very well coming here, having only spent a day in the city in January.
It is growing on us more and more everyday: the relaxed atmosphere, the small town feel with the big town activities/bars/restaurants but most importantly the people. Everyone here is nice, welcoming and friendly, we felt at home very quickly.
Even if the weather is a bit unpredictable it is not as bad as we thought (it is actually colder in France right now !).
On the weekends we try to go out and visit New Zealand as much as we can, so far we visited the Catlins (Jacks Blowhole was amazing), the Otago Peninsula, did a skiing trip at the Remarkables in Queenstown and have continued to explore Dunedin.
In the near future, we want to go to the Otago Museum in Dunedin, do a trip north along the coast, go back to Tekapo and probably more.
Thanks for having us Dunedin!
