Friday 11th saw Team Firebrand tear themselves from their computer screens for a mix-and-mingle morning tea in support of Shine's day raising awareness about family violence in New Zealand. Oh - did we mention the whole thing was themed orange!?!
Events included a delicious shared spread of homemade goods including orange cupcakes, carrots and hummus, orange-dyed bread and jaffa cake. As a fundraiser for Shine's brilliant cause, we also auctioned off the services of our own Mr Paul Twemlow to the highest bidder. The result? $200 for Shine and a full day of manual data entry for Paul - sounds pretty fair to us! We also held a guess the number of lollies in the jar competition, raising an extra $111 for Shine, with Craig & Alex taking home a jar each for their closest guesses.
The 'brightest' part of our morning tea had to be dying our Lead Developer, Maxime's, hair a permanent shade of orange. Starting with an initial bleach job to a stunning shade of yellow, Jake's handy work, this was followed by Katy's secondary dye job using a vibrant red (yellow + red make orange, right?). We managed to achieve a shade closer to pink than anything else - check out the gallery below for a few snaps of the process!
A special shoutout to our neighbours over at Bloke for giving Max's dye a rinse out - a crucial element we had not quite thought through prior to starting the makeover... maybe from now on we'll stick to our day jobs!
Thank you to everyone who came along and to our friends at Stirling Sports for 'buying' Paul for the day! It was a great day for an awesome cause!
