YES Update

Emma Turner

What an exciting few months it has been for YES - Take a read of what we have been up to!

Community Rollout of Eastern Southland

As of the 1st of September, we passed over the Youth Employment Success programme over to the community of Gore/Eastern Southland. Community Networking Trust and Hokonui Huanui are in charge of the rollout and we can't wait to see how much the engagement grows over the next 12 months.

Dunedin Youth Council

It was an awesome opportunity to be able to speak to the Dunedin Youth Council and ask them questions about why and how we could improve the way employers connect with youth in Dunedin. We also talked about their struggles in finding employment and getting ahold of the long-desired experience that they want to gain.

Wellington - MSD Leadership Summit

At the beginning of September, both Emma & Emma (Em n Em!) headed to Wellington for the Ministry of Social Development Leadership Summit where we had a stall able to talk to many of the regional leaders who could be interested in getting YES in their region.

Careers Days / Open Nights

This month we have had both the Otago Polytech Careers Day and the Bayfield High School Subject selection night. Both were awesome experiences to talk to very different crowds of people and get the message around how we can help them gain awesome experiences with local employers.

Farra Open Sessions

Farra Engineering has come on board as an Open Session Champion. We had our first open session in the Heavy Machinery and Fabrication workshops at the beginning of September with an awesome turn out of people who were engaged in considering a future in the engineering industry. If you are interested in attending one of our Farra Open Sessions, keep an eye out on our socials for more information.

Until next time,

Emma 👋👋
