Toby Meyrick

Mission Support

Development Intern

Work

Hailing from Upper Hutt, Wellington originally, Toby moved to Dunedin in 2019. Like much of the population, he moved down to Dunedin for university and the student culture. Toby studies computer science, and Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PhPE), with a final year in 2022, delivering a BASc. As his degree scope implies, he has a wide range of interests, primarily in web development and coding in general. Toby likes being able to plan something, layout the problem he wants to solve, and then write a piece of code that delivers the solution. Something about the end result and the satisfaction it brings is more fulfilling than just about anything! Toby is bringing his passion for development to Firebrand for the 21/22 summer as a Backend Development Intern.

Play

In Toby’s free time, he loves listening to music. Soon after moving to Dunedin, he inherited a love for drum and bass, which his neighbours have unintentionally had an introduction to. He spends his Saturdays playing rugby during the winter and likes to work on small projects in his free time. He also loves to study humanities and spends some free reading non-fiction in the related fields of economics and philosophy. He also is hopelessly addicted to Youtube videos.
