Why SEO matters and how to please the Google gods

Kate Kidson

SEO is a hot topic that manages to generate a lot of confusion, while being of vital importance to every business online.

With plenty of enquires about SEO of late it seems businesses are increasingly recognising just how important search engine optimisation is for driving web traffic, sales conversions and overall bottom line success.

We've rounded up some interesting stats highlighting a few great reasons to think about how well your website is performing in online search:

  • 93% of online experiences begin with a search engine
  • 75% of users never scroll past the first page of search results
  • Results of a 2013 study showed the top ranking website in search results has an average click through of 32.5%, with 60% of clicks going to the top three results

SEO incorporates a number of strategies and techniques designed to increase site traffic by obtaining high-ranking placement in search result pages of search engines such as Google. Propelling businesses to the top of search results takes a healthy dose of research, plenty of SEO knowledge along with the skills to deliver, which thankfully is among our specialities! A recent SEO project with client Stirling Sports saw some pretty fantastic improvements in their search engine rankings; especially across the keywords we’d jointly identified to focus our effort on. Targeting some highly competitive search terms (such as ‘converse’) we’ve been delighted with the improvements seen across the board.

If you’d like to find out more about how to improve your website’s search engine rankings, or how your business can achieve it’s online goals we’re always keen for coffee and a chat!
